It is a well know fact to Seafarers and Offshore personnel that transferring personnel from a boat to another platform or rope ladder carries the risk of injury or death. Publicly available reports from maritime organizations such as IMPA and IMO report yearly fatalities, injuries, and numerous near misses that occur in the Maritime and Offshore industries.
It is also a well know fact that training in safe transfers, deployment and maintenance of devices such as rope ladders and accomodation ladders significantly improves safety and reduction of injuries and fatalities.
My name is Rick Bickerton. My background for the past 35 years has been the design and build of training facilities and high fidelity training aids for a varity of institutions, organizations and military. Our recent development of the Sea State Platform replicates the degrees of movement experienced on a boat deck in a sea state using 6DoF programmable technology (pitch, roll, heave, fore and aft, port and starboard movement)
As a matter of course we also provide other training aids such as self storing accomodation ladders, rope ladders, vertical ladders complete with fall arrest systems, and lifelines with harness and rescue function as addtional parts of the training kit.
